**UofT ASIC Team Sponsorship Package 2026-2027**

UofT ASIC Team | Sponsorship Package 2026-2027

1. Introduction: Hello!

We are the UofT ASIC Team.
Welcome to the forefront of undergraduate hardware innovation. The UofT Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) Team is a dedicated student-run organization at the University of Toronto focused on empowering the next generation of semiconductor and microelectronics engineers.
Historically, IC design has been locked behind graduate-level studies and closed-door industry tools. We are changing that. By leveraging the open-source silicon community (FOSSi) and hands-on project development, we provide undergraduate students with the technical knowledge, practical experience, and resources necessary to design, verify, and actually tape out their own Integrated Circuits.

2. Why Sponsor Us?

Connect with the Future of the Semiconductor Industry
As the demand for hardware engineers, EDA (Electronic Design Automation) software developers, and microelectronics specialists skyrockets, the UofT ASIC Team offers direct access to a highly specialized, motivated, and pre-vetted talent pool.
By sponsoring us, you play a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical undergraduate coursework and real-world industry applications. You will have the opportunity to showcase your brand, recruit top-tier engineering talent, and directly foster the skills your company needs.
Our Reach & Impact:

  • Cross-Canada Network: Reach students not just at UofT, but across Canada through our CanMUX initiative.
  • Specialized Talent: Access students skilled in Digital/Analog IC Design, FPGA development, Hardware Verification, and EDA tool development.
  • Open Source Pioneers: Support students actively contributing back to the FOSSi (Free and Open Source Silicon) foundation.

3. Our Key Initiatives (Where You Come In)

💻 The IC Hackathon (Spring Semester)

Our flagship 7-day hardware hackathon. In 2026, we saw incredible work accomplished by students who rapidly onboarded into IC design through intense workshops and mentorship.

  • The Opportunity: Students design and submit a full IC design project.
  • Sponsor Value: Host a workshop, mentor students 1-on-1, provide a sponsored prize category (e.g., “Best Use of [Your Company’s Tool]”), and recruit from the brightest participants.

🍁 CanMUX (Canadian Microelectronics Undergraduate eXpo)

The initiative to bring IC design to undergrads is not unique to UofT. We have partnered with schools across the country—including UWaterloo, UCalgary, and York University—to host CanMUX.

  • The Opportunity: A massive undergraduate-focused IC design conference showcasing incredible student tapeouts and hardware projects.
  • Sponsor Value: Unprecedented national exposure. Set up networking booths, deliver keynote speeches, and connect with hardware students from across Canada.

🛠️ Design Kompetition & Project Tapeouts

A year-round, rolling-basis initiative where students pitch, design, and develop their own IC projects. Our goal is to push these designs all the way to a physical tapeout (a 6-month development cycle).

  • The Opportunity: Students experience the full design cycle: design, layout, optimization, verification, and validation.
  • Sponsor Value: Direct mentorship opportunities. Sponsor a specific project’s tapeout costs and work closely with a dedicated team of brilliant developers.

📚 Education Series & Guest Lectures

We run a comprehensive asynchronous education series introducing students to open-source IC tools, alongside regular guest lectures from industry professionals.

  • Sponsor Value: Send your engineers to host a guest lecture. Share your company’s real-world challenges, highlight your cutting-edge technologies, and build brand awareness directly in the classroom.

4. Sponsorship Pathways

We understand that every company has different goals. We offer flexible ways to support the UofT ASIC Team:

  • Monetary Sponsorship: Direct funding to help us cover event logistics, hackathon prizes, and expensive tapeout costs.
  • Product & Software (In-Kind): Access to enterprise-grade EDA tools, hardware development boards (FPGAs), or computing resources.
  • Mentorship & Judging: Send your engineers to judge our IC Hackathon, mentor our Design Kompetition teams, or host a technical guest lecture.

5. Sponsorship Tiers

(Note: Tiers can be customized to align with your brand objectives.)
